Putting aside the topics of food and travel, Elizabeth looks at the
mess in Washington. Both sides are pointing at each other and
nothing seems to get done. Is it time for something
different?
On November 19, 1863 in his Gettysburg Address, President
Abraham Lincoln noted:
"that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have
died in vain—that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of
freedom—and that government of the people, by the people, for the
people, shall not perish from the earth."
As we look around 150 years later, the federal government
is neither of the people, by the people and it's certainly not for
the people.
Is it time to make sweeping changes in our system of
governance?
Such changes would have to begin with a shutdown of the current
system, and that's loomimg large on the American horizon right
now.
